The grip has a 12 mm (0.5 in) diameter bollard which can be steel or rubbercoated. The sample is wrapped around the bollard and initial clamping is providedby a tension spring. Self-tightening occurs as the load increases. The samplemust be flexible enough to wrap around the bollard and conform to its surface.
