A clamping ring, with an inside diameter of 44.4 mm (1.75 in), holds the sample securely. A cam-type clamping action simplifies sample insertion and removal. As the crosshead moves, a 25.4 mm (1.0 in) diameter polished steel ball presses against the sample until a burst is achieved. Complies with ASTM D6797.
